Senior Design Engineer – Mechanical

MP Filtri UK Ltd is strengthening its Design Team with the appointment of a new Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. This role will help bolster the existing team by working closely with the electronics engineer and other mechanical engineers to integrate our products.
 
Location:
 
The role will be based at MP UK’s manufacturing facility in Bourton-on-the-Water for the first 12 months, after this time it will be based in Evesham. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Design and detail mechanical systems
  • Detail specifications of system components
  • High level understanding of materials and their characteristics
  • High level understanding of simulation and FEA methods
  • Guide and direct the mechanical team directly, making decisions about product development
  • Plan and map out a project plan and archive the project objectives
  • Document processes
  • Direct and advise the engineering team on technical specifications relating to mechanical systems
  • Recognize and detail test specifications for mechanical systems and electronic components to ensure compliance with CE marking and other relevant specifications
  • Generation of technical reports and technical files.
  • Project management
 
Tasks:
 
  • Generation of system BOMs
  • Generation of SolidWorks 3D CAD models
  • Lease with test houses and competence centres, managing approvals
  • Detailing of manufacturing drawings, BOMs, assembly drawings, schematic drawings and DXFs accurately and to a high standard
  • Engineering modifications and correcting/updating existing drawings
  • Noting the engineering changes required during the build process in order to capture these for future builds
  • Review existing designs, optimizing them for production with modern manufacturing processes
  • Generate sales drawings using 3D software and engineering drawings. (Preferable but not essential, training can be provided for the right candidate)
  • Working with suppliers to define appropriate and fit-for-purpose component selection
  • Strict compliance with quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
 
  • Minimum of a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Post-grad industrial experience
  • Great understanding of mechanical design processes
  • Project management skills
  • Understanding of hydraulics and systems for both mobile and industrial applications
  • Good communication skills
  • Detailing of tasks and record-keeping
  • Complete comprehensive FEA of mechanical assemblies
  • Understanding of hydraulics and systems for both mobile and industrial applications
  • Understanding of various communication systems including MODBUS and CANBUS (Desirable)

  • Aptitude to learn from others and share knowledge with others
